Personal Background
I have a Jamaican background and grew up in a very small complex in Ontario. I have a big Caribbean family and we all argue over with island cooks the best meals.
Educational Background
I went to York university to study English and professional writing because I love literature. The love for writing led me to marketing and ad copy, which caused me to take a deep dive into business. I then pursued my masters at Queens University in business management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
What I Love About My Field
I love teaching. Anytime I can help a student hit a goal I am very excited.
Career Progression
I started out a freelancer doing contract work and one time projects, I gained the skills I needed to add to resume and knowledge on successful startup companies. This gave me the flexibility to study and also make as money as I needed depending on the amount of projects I needed to pursue to hit a milestone. Building both practical and book knowledge allowed me to work on major projects for colleges, universities and larger companies.
Keeping It Real
When I got into this field no one told me that business can be very unpredictable and relationships can be more valuable than money.
Advice I Wish I Received
